Urinetown

Urinetown  May 2011

What is Urinetown? A place? An experience? A musical?

Despite its title, or indeed in spite of it, this terrific musical comedy has been a winner among audiences and critics alike. In 2001, Urinetown won 3 Tony Awards for Best Score, Book and Director, no easy feat for any musical. Set in a not-too-distant future, in a Gotham-like city where private toilets are outlawed on environmental grounds and citizens must pay for the privilege of using the public amenities, greed, power, desperation and revolution are in the air. This scathing satire of corporate greed and political corruption is also a hilarious send-up of musical theatre itself!

  • Director – Sid Sidebottom
  • Musical Director – Petrina Jahnz
  • Choreographer – Elizabeth Viney
Featuring Chris Lynch, Annette Dawes, Brett Budgeon, Derrick McPhie, Holly Johnstone, Laura Budgeon, Sally Jupp, Alastair Yeates, Mark Denny, Maree Brodzinski, Garry Heazlewood, Carina Cooper and Jake Jacobson as well as an artistically arranged clump of somewhat incontinent and downtrodden citizens, not-so-flat footed coppers and immaculate UGC executives.
