Information Night – Bad Girls

An information night for our 2012 Australian Premiere production of Bad Girls – The Musical will be held at Devonport Primary School, Stewart Street on Saturday October 29th at 6.30 pm. This short session will be an opportunity to find out about the show, meet the production team and book an audition time.

From either Stewart St or Steele St, enter the school ground. Access to the session will be from the Quadrangle area in the centre of the school.

Notice of AGM

AGM

The AGM of the Devonport Choral Society will be held on Monday 19th September at 7pm, at the offices of the Australian Education Union, Steele Street, Devonport (across from KMart).  All members are invited to attend.  This meeting will be followed by a regular committee meeting.

If you are interested in becoming a DCS Committee Member and would like more information, please let Maree know.

Social Outing – Oliver!

If you are interested in sharing a social outing to see the Launceston Musical Society’s production of Oliver!, please let Maree know as soon as possible.

Date:  Saturday 24th September

Time:  This will be the matinee show (1.30pm).  We will leave Devonport between 11.30 – 11.50am (exact time TBA)

Cost:  $40.  This will cover your ticket + travel (thank you to Paul and Smith’s Travel)

Payment:  Payment to be made by Friday 16th September.  Contact Maree for details.

Right On Cue – Choir News

Please note some possible changes in our rehearsal schedule in the coming months.  As we are working towards our end of year performances, your  commitment is important.  If you are unable to attend a rehearsal, for whatever reason, please contact Petrina (0417 509 695) and/or Maree (0408 079 805) as soon as possible.  If you are not available for any of these performance dates, please advise Petrina at our next rehearsal.

REHEARSALS

  • No rehearsals on 8th & 15th September.
  • Every Thursday night from 22 September, 7.30 – 9.30pm.
  • We may have to change rehearsals to a Wednesday around Blood Brothers             time as Erin and Petrina are involved, and John is overseas.
  • Possible extra rehearsal Saturday 19th November.
  • Rehearsal Wednesday 14th December instead of Thursday 15th December             as Thursday is the night before Petrina leaves for the UK.
  • Christmas Party Thursday 8th December at Petrina’s.

  • Saturday 26th November – ROC & Devonport Choral Society 60th Anniversary Concert – DECC (sound check before – afternoon or early evening?
  • Sunday 27th November – Empty Stocking Appeal Concert with Vox Harmony – Country Club Casino

Who’s in Town? The cast of Urinetown…

The cast of DCS 2011 show Urinetown features some amazing talent, drawn widely from the NW Coast. We are pleased to welcome Annette Dawes to DCS in the role of Penny, Chris Lynch makes a long awaited return as Officer Lockstock, Brett and Laura Budgeon are playing together as Bobby and Hope, Derrick McPhie is back with us again as the charming, but oh so evil Cladwell and we are introducing to Devonport audiences a very talented younger cast member, Holly Johnson as Little Sally.

We are also bringing to the stage a fabulously strong ensemble and band, under the expert direction of Petrina Jahnz. The cast and crew are already working hard at rehearsals and are getting very excited to be bringing you this very funny musical.
